Train the unemployed here. Reduce their dole so they have to work to make a decent living and we wont have to import chinese labour.

So, hundreds of foreign, english speaking, highly skilled migrants on 457 visas were sent packing when the economic downturn started and now he wants to cosy up to china to replace them with non-integrating and non english speaking chinese workers. How retarded.

I am skilled worker, migrated to Australia in Feb-2009 and still not gotten Job. Strange to know from Premier that their is Skill Shortage in WA. Premeir at least help Skilled Australian Resident and Citizen in getting Job and than Bring the chinese Skilled Workers. Its UNFAIR and DISGUSTING.

NO NO NO. Train our own people to do these jobs. We have seen how poorly trained the so called tradespeople who came in from Asia were, we don;t need more of these. We have unemployment, buy Australian made with good old Aussie labour. By Aussie, I mean anyone born here regardless of ethnic background.

England, new zealand, south africa. These are the countres with plenty of skilled workers and the bonus is they talk english. Nothing wrong with chinese workers but we all know why colin targeting that nation . Lets make the chinese happy and we might make more $$$$$$$$ .

Happy with your self appointed premier?? he has really been tough with the Chinese eh?? Chinese workers are better skilled then Aussie workers, that is true, they also have a better working regime, but there is something like EMPLOY THE AUSSIES FIRST COLIN you have nearly 7% of them out of work. Maybe the Chinese are going to dig Colins canal? Next election tell Colin what you think of him, first 850 million to blackmailing dill Grylls every year to remain premier and now he is going to flood the mine sites with cheap Chinese labour, just the man WA needs.

Bull!!! I'm highly skilled and experienced, including on minesites, and would love to work up north again. Over 200 applications in 12 months with no result. Look after WA workers first Mr Barnett, lots of us would still rather be working.
