http://bbs.m4.cn/xwb/images/bgimg/icon_logo.png 该贴已经同步到 江西李建军的微博 《牛津世界政治指南 》(The Oxford Companion to Politics of the World) 上看到有关介绍毛泽东的章节，在如何评价毛泽东的问题上，其中有一些新的视角。本着不掩瑜，不饰非的态度，现将有关章节全文翻译并附于下，以便我们能从另一个角度对毛泽东做一些观察。文中提出一些观点，尤其是将毛泽东看作是中国现代工业转型和现代化的奠基人，为中国最终崛起成为世界强国奠定了一个长期发展进程这一点上，与目前中国的主流看法有较大的分歧。另外，通过对毛泽东时代工业发展的研究，文中指出，由1952-1976年的24年间，中国年平均工业增长率达11%，这从一个侧面证明，认为毛泽东不懂经济，毛时代的国民经济濒临崩溃的指责多有不实。他开启了这个世界上人口最多的大地上的现代工业转型。肯定没有谁能有这样深刻的影响，无论是好是坏，毛泽东个人、他的权力、他的政策和他的思想影响了众多人的生活。 在中华人民共和国的历史中，毛时代是一个在现代世界历史中最为动荡的时代，尽管这一过程存在许多严重的，带来不利的影响失误、缺陷及不均衡等因素，\然而未来的历史学家将会以记载表明，毛时代是中国现代工业制度的奠基时代。 作为革命领袖，面对一个经历过一个世纪反复的国内政治失败及外来重大侵略的中国，他取得了使世界上这个人口最多的国家实现统一和独立的不朽成就。他取得了使世界上这个人口最多的国家实现统一和独立的不朽成就。有关这一时代的真实记录表明，毛是一个比作为社会主义的建设者成功得多的现代经济者。在整个1949-1976年的毛时代，中国从一个根本上的农业国转变为一个相对的工业国，工业产值占生产总值的比率由30%增加到72%。由1952年(工业产量恢复到战前的最高水平)到毛时代结束，中国工业的年平均增长率为11%，是这一时期任何一个主要国家中最高的增长率(包括发达及发展中国家)。使革命所承诺的，最终实现社会主义的目标得以继续，这无疑保证了后期革命的秩序，为毛的继承者，包括邓小平在内，在制定新的发展道路上提供了极大的机动性。
