KEVIN Rudd's personal China angstis about to be intensified by a request to meet the Dalai Lama when the Tibetanleader visits Australia in December on a high-profile speaking tour.

Onhis last visit to Australia last year, the Dalai Lama met Immigration MinisterChris Evans, who was then acting prime minister because Mr Rudd was away inIndonesia. The Tibetan leader metJohn Howard twice as prime minister but not in parliament or at The Lodge. MrRudd met the Dalai Lama when he was opposition foreign affairs spokesman in2007, and also attended an informal parliamentary reception in his honour.

Simon Bradshaw, campaign co-ordinator atthe Australia Tibet Council, said the Dalai Lama was scheduled to meet USPresident Barack Obama in October.
