Swedish court approves detention of Wikileaks’ Assange

Stockholm – A Swedish court Thursday approved a prosecutor’s request to detain the founder of whistleblowing website WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, as part of a probe into alleged rape.
斯德哥尔摩-瑞典一法院周四批准了检察官的申请，以涉嫌强奸为由通缉维基泄密网站的Julian Assange。
The decision was announced after a closed door hearing at the Stockholm district court.
这一决定是在斯德哥尔摩地方法院在一场非公开听证会之后做出的。
The court ruling will allow prosecutors to seek assistance from other countries to obtain Assange’s arrest.
法庭的裁决将为警方寻求别国合作逮捕Assange打开绿灯。
Assange is suspected of ‘rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion,’ Marianne Ny, director of public prosecution, said earlier.

Ny said the detention request was made in order ‘to interrogate him. So far, we have not been able to meet with him to accomplish the interrogations.’

The investigation relates to complaints made by two women in August when Assange was in Sweden for the publication of thousands of leaked Pentagon war papers relating to the Afghan conflict.

Assange, whose whereabouts are unknown, has denied the allegations.
