Yes, you invaded Iraq not for youself or your country but for the sake of iraqis and the sake of their souls. Oh, I am so touched! The point of this "poem" was to show how slanted information fuels xenophobia. Of course, finding lead in toys and political prisoners are wrong, but what about the chemicals in our baby bottles, extreme rendition, and internment without trial? In other words, those who have sinned should not cast stones.
I'm glad the Post published this item because the news is often presented from the Western point of view, despite its multicultural staff. We should make diversity a strength instead of considering other societies to be inferior. To Deadline: that executing people for organ story is a shameless lie. The Chinese may not have as much democracy as the U.S people, but they are civilized people. In fact, China is one of the first countries who abondoned mutilation for crime punishment (approx. in the 200 B.C). Check your history and use your brain before your spread rumor. I wonder what Robert Frost would say about its meter, metaphor, and rhyme!
But the writing certainly does convey how the west has interacted with the east, and how the east might be confused by our demands. Cultures are fascinating social structures where differences are often misunderstood, and populations suffer.
For me, I'd like to see the quality of life in China improved so that their citizens suffer less and enjoy life more. How that is to be accomplished only the Chinese can say. And only time will bring about the necessary changes for improved quality of life for the Chinese people. I want you to stop poisoning our children. I want you to release all of your political prisoners. I want you to hold elections where the only party on the ballot is not the communists party. But most of all I want you to quit executing people on demand when someone with a few thousand needs an organ. Is that too much to ask? I ask this not for myself or my country but for your sake and the sake of your souls.
