我和梁柏只有一面之缘,那是几年前,他去南京欲报考吴为山的博士研究生,我恰好也在那里出差,一个午饭的时间,彼此交流并不多,此后未再见过。然而,我与梁柏却是越来越熟悉,竟如常常见面的熟友。或许,这就是个“缘”字吧。
I have met withLiang Bo for only once, and that is several years ago, when he was about to registerfor examination to acquire the qualification as a doctoral candidate of WuWeishan, and I happened to be on a business trip there. For just a lunch’s time,we hadn’t communicated much, and we haven’t met with each other since then. However,we’ve been more and more familiar with each other, just like intimate friendsthat meet with each other frequently. Perhaps, it is just “predestinedrelationship”.

面是未见,消息却是一直往来,时常会发个短信问候,或是打个电话寒暄。那次见面未能看到梁柏的作品,不知庐山面目。就在之后约两个月,在广州艺术博览会上,恰好看到了他的一批雕塑,是几件女人体,体面处理很简洁,有很轻松的流动感。温温润润的,我比较喜欢,形式新而不奇,不张扬,含蓄得很,经得起琢磨。
Though we don’t meet with each other, we have often sent shortmessages or made cell phones to extend greetings to each other. It is a pitythat I didn’t get a chance to observe Liang Bo’s works, so I fail to see thetruth of him. Just about two months later, on Guangzhou’s Art Fairs, I happened to see agroup of his sculptures. They are several pieces of women sculptures, whosefaces and bodies looked concise, with a relaxing feeling of fluxion. I likethem very much, for they looked mild, and their shape seemed new but not queeror flaunty, with much connotation, which can endure people’s pondering on it

后来,陆续在媒体上看了他越来越多的作品。开始看的时候并不经意,后来看他涉猎的门类很杂,油画、水墨、陶瓷、雕塑、素描等等,很惊讶于他的创造的热情。后来就时时留意他的作品了,想看他又在画什么,又在做什么。
Later, I saw more and more his works on media. At the beginning, Ijust observed his works carelessly. It is only later that I found that hisworks involve many a category, including oil painting, Chinese ink painting, ceramics,sculpture, sketch and so forth, which made me feel very surprised about hiscreating enthusiasm. And since then, I have kept an eye on his works constantly,thinking about what he is drawing, or what he is doing.

三个字“真性情”,这是一面之缘时我对梁柏的印象。我和他年龄相仿,所以在他举手投足之间能够真切体会到他的“真性情”。这几年,看梁柏的作品,论印象,还是这三个字“真性情”。“画如其人”,果然不错!
The two words “true disposition” are the first impression Liang Boleft on me when I met him for the first time. We are close in age, so I canclearly feel his “true disposition” from his gestures and expressions. In therecent several years, in terms of the impression his works left on me, it isstill the “true disposition”. “A man can be known by the paintings he draws.”That’s exactly right!

梁柏的作品很少有流行风的痕迹,他的作品好象不属于眼下这个时代。或许,这是因为他生活在远离艺术话语中心的桂林的原故,也或许,梁柏从艺根本没有着意于当下有什么艺术话语权力转换的愿望,他喜欢思考,希望用艺术表达丰富的内省。
In Liang Bo’s works, there are rarely traces of fashion, and hisworks doesn’t seem to belong the present age. Perhaps, this is because he livesin Guilin, acity far away from the center of art discourse. Or perhaps, it is because LiangBo doesn’t have any wish to shift art discourse power at all. Instead, he likespondering, wishing to express rich introspection with art.

其实,从梁柏的作品看,还是比较容易分辨出八十年代艺术思潮留下的痕迹。他关注生命的欲望,这是上世纪八十年代中期流行的艺术理念。我与他这个年龄的人,在那时恰是生理开始冲动的年龄,也懵懵懂懂地跟着更大一点的大学生读几篇帕格森的生命哲学和弗落伊德的精神分析之类的书。
As a matter of fact, it is easy to identify the traces left by the artisticideological trends in 1980s from Liang Bo’s works. He pays attention to thedesire of lives, which is an art concept popular in mid-1980s. At that time, wewere just at the age when our physiology started to be impulsive, and when wefollowed some college students a bit older than us to read some books on the philosophyof life by and on psychoanalysis by Freud.
