Australia could invest as much as A$3 billion ($2.3 billion) to join the China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a local newspaper said on Friday, citing leaked details of high-level ministerial discussions.

一当地媒体援引高层部长级讨论细节消息的报道称，澳洲可能最多投资30亿澳元(23亿美元)，加入中国支持的亚洲基础设施投资银行(AIIB)。

The Sydney Morning Herald said the National Security Committee has cleared the way for the investment, which should lead to a formal decision to sign up to the Chinese initiative when the full cabinet meets on Monday.
