The woman sells Chinese cola from a street booth, an example of the private entrepreneurship that has become accepted under the Reforms. Nowadays Pepsi and Coca Cola are the most popular in China too.
After crushing the demonstrations on the Square of Heavenly Peace (1989), the economic development gathers even more speed. China has opened itself completely to the outside world. Politics have completely disappeared from the posters, with the exception of the Return of Hong Kong (1997) and the struggle against Falun Gong (1999). China's leaders (Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin) are now seen as oridinary people and even Mao increasingly looks like a movie star. The struggle against SARS and the preparations for the Beijing Olympics 2008 receive lot of attention. Styllistically, photo montage now dominates the posters.
