China will expand public investment as part of a multi-pronged battle against the global economic crisis, a senior Chinese finance ministry official said on Monday.

Although China's "proactive" fiscal policy aimed at countering the crisis has made headway, more needs to be done, said Zhu Guangyao, assistant finance minister after high-level talks with US officials in Washington.
