"It was a valid attack on a military installation in use by an occupying army in disputed territory. Nate Kelty. Boston"
Please get your facts straight:
NI is not disputed territory - in 1973 there was a referendum & the people of NI voted, well 98% of them anyway, to remain part of the UK.
This is NOT war - these men do not wear uniforms, they do not show themselves, they hide, like the cowards and murderers they are.
@nate kelty, that is a disgraceful comment, are you from Ireland or are you 2nd-3rd generation immigrant to the USA?? The fact that you are in Boston means you should probably keep your opinions, wild as they are, in your homeland and stay out of it
superblogger, belfast
it's an act of war, love it or hate it.
Nate Kelty, Boston, United States
who is this clown. am sorry you and your ideals. comments like this from half way round the world,
we dont want this our youth is moving on. our country is rebuilding and we dont want the dark old days
i ask you nate kelly from boston have you lived here during the shootings and the bombings ??????
if you did you wouldnt come out with rubbish like that
al, lisburn
the first thing that should happen is that Obama now refuse to meet McGuinness and that Kennedy not be given his award.
English Not British, or European
"... It is disheartening to know that almost 50 years after the United Nations Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples and almost 9 years after the Good Friday Agreement that Britain still rules its oldest colony via a military presence.
Edwin Davis, Birmingham in Alabama, USA"
Yawn, yawn! Another uninformed comment from an ill-educated (Irish?) American. NI is no more a colony of Britain than Alaska is a colony of the US. Get your army out of Alaska?
[SaxonHero], Lancashire, England (not UK)
It was a valid attack on a military installation in use by an occupying army in disputed territory.
Kate Kelty Boston
What a stupid comment by a citizen of"Britains closest ally".
From her remote home in America does she realise that the Army are welcomed by the majority in Northern Ireland, this is called Democracy.
kevin, Leicester
Unfortunate though it is the fact is that as long as there is a British presence in Ireland this sort of attack will always be likely. The cornerstone of republican politics is it's opposition to British, particularly military, involvement in Irish affairs. Some have now chosen to oppose this through electoralism but others will oppose it through the use of arms. Unfortunate but inevitable. The interesting aspect will be how Sinn Féin reacts to it.
Michael, Manchester
