(gen)oic Expresses Deep Concern Over Upheavel In Urumchi and Use Of Disproportinate Force

ANKARA (A.A) - 06.07.2009 - The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) expressed deep concern over the upheaval in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China and the use of disproportionate force to suppress events, where 140 people were killed and 800 more were wounded.

A press release issued by the OIC called on China's government to carry out a fast, effective and transparent investigation regarding the events and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The high number of casualties is an indicator of the use of disproportionate force by the Government.

"The Islamic World expects China, a major power in the international Arena, to approach the problems of the Muslim minority with a wider perspective which would combat the underlying causes of these problems," said the OIC. (OZG-CE)

较大的伤亡人数说明中国政府过度地使用了武力。

伊斯兰会议组织说:“伊斯兰世界希望中国作为国际舞台上的一个大国，从更广泛的角度来处理穆斯林少数民族的问题，解决这些问题的根本起因。 ”
