Word on the street (as well as on ABC's Lateline ) is that there are some 5,000 pro-China demonstrators and a few hundred Tibetan freedom-supporters expected next week for when the torch comes to town.
Anyone planning on going along?
I can't wait personally. I've been collecting stones to unleash a Palestinian-style welcoming ceremony on the torch!

Hmm, you might have a point. Playing Israelis & Palestinians is all well and good until it's the AFP who's playing the part of the Israelis.
But hey, it'd be nice to see something untoward happen though. Perhaps just a riot or some other form of civil disturbance. It could even put Canberra on the map - I mean, who'd heard of Los Angeles before the race riots in the early 90s?
