A search and rescue dog leaps through the arms of his trainer from the engineering regiment of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China during a demonstration on July 30 at a military base on the outskirts of Beijing. The PLA, established on August 1, 1927, is the world's largest military force with some 3 million members. The engineering regiment was formed in 1964 and is involved in earthquake relief, flood reduction and international exchange.
China has an interesting history with its pets, including most recently dying them to look like other animals (i.e. dog as tiger?).
