国际数学家大会颁发四项大奖（包括今年新设的“陈省身奖”）

在报道本快讯之前，先简介下国际数学联合会属下的四项大奖：菲尔兹奖、内万林纳奖、高斯奖，还有今年刚设立的陈省身奖（就当是科普吧O(∩_∩)O~）

  
菲尔兹奖，主要奖励在理论数学方面做出杰出贡献的40岁以下学者

  
内万林纳奖，主要奖励在信息科学数学方面做出杰出贡献的40岁以下学者

  
高斯奖，主要奖励在应用数学方面做出杰出贡献的学者

  
陈省身奖，表彰终身成就卓越的数学家（注：奖牌背面为陈省身证明的Gauss-Bonnet定理）

Elon Lindenstrauss is being awarded the 2010 Fields Medal for his results on measure rigidity in ergodic theory, and their applications to number theory.
Elon Lindenstrauss（以色列人，普林斯顿大学）因其在遍历性理论中测度刚性的成果，及这些成果在数论中的应用，获颁2010年度菲尔兹奖。

Ngô Bảo Châu is being awarded the 2010 Fields Medal for for his proof of the Fundamental Lemma in the theory of automorphic forms through the introduction of new algebro-geometric methods.
吴宝珠（越南人，巴黎第十一大学）因通过引入新的代数几何方法证明了自同构形理论中的基本引理，获颁2010年度菲尔兹奖。

Stanislav Smirnov is being awarded the 2010 Fields medal for the proof of conformal invariance of percolation and the planar Ising model in statistical physics.
Stanislav Smirnov（俄罗斯人，日内瓦大学）因证明渗流理论以及统计物理中的平面伊辛(Ising)模型的保角不变性，获颁2010年度菲尔兹奖。

Cédric Villani is being awarded the 2010 Fields Medal for his proofs of nonlinear Landau damping and convergence to equilibrium for the Boltzmann equation.
Cédric Villani（法国人，庞加莱学院）因证明波尔兹曼方程的非线性朗道阻尼（情形）以及平衡收敛性，获颁2010年度菲尔兹奖。

Daniel Spielman of Yale University, USA, has been chosen for the 2010 Rolf Nevanlinna Prize for smoothed analysis of Linear Programming, algorithms for graph-based codes and applications of graph theory to Numerical Computing.
Daniel Spielman（美国人，耶鲁大学）因其在线性规划中的平滑分析、基于图的代码的算法，以及数值计算中图论的应用这些方面的贡献，获颁2010年度内万林纳奖。

Yves Meyer, Professor Emeritus at École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, France, has been selected for the 2010 Gauss Prize for fundamental contributions to number theory, operator theory and harmonic analysis, and his pivotal role in the development of wavelets and multiresolution analysis.
Yves Meyer（法国加尚高等师范学校教授）因其在数论、算子理论与调和分析中的基础性贡献，及其在小波与多分辨率分析的发展中起到的先锋性作用，获颁2010年度高斯奖。

Louis Nirenberg of Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University (NYU), has been selected to be the first recipient of the Chern Medal for his role in the formulation of the modern theory of non-liner elliptic partial differential equations and for mentoring numerous students and post-docs in this area.
Louis Nirenberg（加拿大人，纽约大学库朗数学院），因其在奠定非线性椭圆偏微分方程现代理论的贡献，以及在此期间对大量学生和博士后的指导工作，成为陈省身奖的首位获奖人。

我可沒说过陈省身不是美国人，我只是感叹中国的数学家，近现代只有两个勉强算是。
