Recent media revelations have brought home to Canadians exactly what took place during the G20 summit in the Toronto area. How innocent Canadians were detained, physically abused and denied their legal rights was truly shocking.
That's why the recent statements by Prime Minister Stephen Harper regarding the human rights abuses currently happening in Libya seem to ring hollow when he says, "we . call on the Libyan regime to immediately cease the use of force against its own citizens."
Certainly not on the same scale as what is happening in Libya, but in a country such as Canada, which has always been a role model for the world in its democratic principles, the treatment of its own peoples must be seen as equal in brutality.
