BEIJING: China has announced that it has completed a major hydropower dam on the Brahmaputra, called YarlungZangbo, in Tibet.The dam is bound to enhance fears in Indiaand Bangladeshabout flash floods and related risks like landslides involving lives ofmillions of people downstream.

北京：中国宣布已经在西藏雅鲁藏布江建成了一座大型水力发电站。这座电站必将引起印度与孟加拉国对于洪水爆发以及诸如山体滑坡等相关风险的担忧，这涉及到下游数百万人的生命。

India has repeatedly expressed concern about the dangers ofdamming the Brahmaputra, one of the strongest Himalayan rivers, in upstreamareas in Tibet.Chinahas routinely responded saying its plans were restricted to run-off-the-riverdams focussed on generating electricity, which posed little danger.
印度已经再三对中国在喜马拉雅山上最强的河流之一-----雅鲁藏布江的上游筑坝带来的危险表达了关切。而中国总是例行公事地回应称其计划仅限于修筑河床式大坝，主要用来发电，构成的危险极小。
Indian officials have so far been satisfied by Beijing's explanations, not realizing China was actually building a massive projectthat would affect the river's flow into Arunachal Pradesh and other parts ofthe northeastern region of India,sources said.

迄今为止，印度官员对北京的解释感到满意，他们并未意识到中国实际上正在修筑一个将会影响到河流流经的阿鲁纳恰尔邦以及印度东北其他地区的浩大工程，消息人士说。
