A pregnant woman onher way to her baby shower was one of five family members killed early Saturdayin a collision on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The family was headedto Baltimore from homes on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, when, according toMaryland State Police, their car and a tractor-trailer collided in Wye Mills,in Queen Anne’s County.

State police said thetractor-trailer, with a 22-ton load, collided with the car about 1:15 a.m.at routes 50 and 213. Police said the truck apparently rolled over the auto.

Regina M. Ayres, 24;her 7-year-old daughter, Jordan; and her 2-month-old son, Jonathan, died at thescene, as did Regina Ayres’s boyfriend and Jonathan’s father, Travis M.Straton, 25, of Onancock, Va., state police said. They said Zarissa Ayers andher unborn child died at a hospital in Easton.

Police said the crashwas under investigation but nothing indicated alcohol involvement. Officialssay it is unclear who was driving the car and which vehicle had the greenlight.
