A top Chinese diplomat has said President Xi Jinping plans to make his first state visit to the U.S. later this year, Chinese state media reported Monday.

一位中国高级官员本周称中国国家主席习近平将于今年对美国进行首次国事访问。

The official China Daily newspaper quoted China's ambassador to the U.S. Ciu Tiankai as saying Chinese and U.S. officials are discussing the visit. Ciu told Chinese reporters Sunday that no date had been determined yet.

中国驻美大使崔天凯称，中美双方正在商谈有关事宜。崔告诉记者，目前尚未确定具体日期。

U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice said Friday that the U.S. has invited both Xi and Japanese President Shinzo Abe for state visits.

美国国家安全事务助理苏珊·赖斯上周五称，美国已向中国主席习近平和日本首相安倍晋三发出访美邀请。

Xi last met with U.S. President Barack Obama in November after an Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Beijing. The two also met in Rancho Mirage, California, during a more informal visit to the U.S. in June 2013.

去年亚太经合会议在北京举行，会后习近平与奥巴马进行了会晤。2013年6月二者也在加州的兰乔米拉奇举行了非正式会晤。

The U.S. and China have been working together on a range of high-profile issues, including pledging in November to cut back on their emissions of greenhouse gases blamed for climate change. The world's biggest economies have also clashed diplomatically on several fronts such as accusations over cyber-espionage and Chinese actions asserting its territorial claims in the East and South China seas.

-US-China is the most important relationship in the world. Both Xi and Obama realize that and hope that all things can work out peace without fireworks where both China and the US are prepared.

-It will be a tragic mistake for Xi to visit this country. The people here are not ready for such courtesy. Hope China find some way to cancel such unpleasant trip.
