Exports in the world's second largest economy,China, fell for a third consecutive month in May, highlighting slowing demandin the country.

世界第二大经济体中国的出口在五月连续三个月下跌，凸显了国内的需求放缓。

Exports fell 2.5% from a year ago in dollardenominated terms, and 2.8% in yuan denominated figures.

出口较上年同期以美元计价下降了2.5%，以人民币计价下降了2.8%.

Both figures were above expectations, but the slidein imports has sparked worries on the domestic end.

Imports tumbled 17.6% in dollar terms, whileyuan-denominated imports plunged 18.1% - falling for the seventh month.

Zhu Haibin, economist at JP Morgan said Monday'sdata shows that the economy will struggle to meet the government's trade growthtarget even with the export rise.

"Imports are still much weaker than expected.Exports are doing fine, even though we are still talking about a year-on-yeardecline, but in terms of momentum they've rebounded a bit after the collapse inMarch," he told Reuters.

Domestic demand in China continues to be weakdespite stimulus measures by the government and central bank to boost growth.

The central bank had lowered interest rates justlast month, which was the third time in six months to spur lending and economicactivity.

The drop in imports led China's trade surplus to$59.5bn in May, up nearly 75% from April.
