(CNN) -- CNN has been singled out for criticism for our coverage of events in Tibet through an Anti-CNN.com Web site and elsewhere. We have provided comprehensive coverage of all sides of this story, but two specific allegations relate to pro-Tibetan bias. We would like to take this chance to respond to them:
 
Allegation 1: CNN intentionally cropped an image in order to remove Tibetan protesters throwing stones at Chinese trucks.
 
CNN refutes all allegations by bloggers that it distorts its coverage of the events in Tibet to portray either side in a more favorable light. We have consistently and repeatedly shown all sides of this story. The one image in question was used wholly appropriately in the specific editorial context and there could be no confusion regarding what it was showing, not least because it was captioned: "Tibetans throw stones at army vehicles on a street in the capital Lhasa." The picture gallery included in Tibet stories includes the image. (See the gallery)
 
We have also published images showing violence by Tibetans against the Chinese. A March 18 story shows Tibetan youths attacking a Chinese man. (Read the story)
 
Additionally, we have published video from the Chinese media apparently showing Tibetans attacking Chinese interests in Lhasa.  (Watch the video) »
Allegation 2: CNN referred to Tibet as a "country."
 
CNN's policy is to refer to Tibet as "Tibet Autonomous Region of China." In our dozens of stories on the topic to date, we are aware of only two instances where it was incorrectly referenced as a country.

   指控1 ：CNN故意裁掉了一张图片中西藏抗议者向中国卡车投掷石块的部分。

   CCN对网民指控我们歪曲报道西藏事件以对任何一方更加有利的所有观点予以驳斥。我们持续和重复地报道了这个事件中的各方。那张有问题的图片，我们从整体出发对图片进行了适当的编辑以使得图片不至于它所显示的那么混乱，此外我们还加上了“藏人在首府拉萨街道向军用车辆扔石头”的图片说明。我们关于西藏事件报道的图片库包含了这部分图象。

   我们也报道显示藏人暴力袭击中国人的图片。3月18日，我们就报道了一群藏族青年攻击一名中国男子。

   此外，我们还公布了从中国媒体获得的视频，这些视频清楚地展现了藏人在拉萨对中国人的攻击。

   指控2 ：CNN把西藏称为“国家” 。

   CNN的政策认为西藏是“中国西藏自治区”。据我们所知，在我们迄今数十个报道中，只有两次报道西藏被错误地称为一个国家。

   CNN的声誉来源于对全球新闻准确而公正的报道。我们对每一个事件的报道，都通过文字、图象或视频反映着广泛的意见和观点。

I have to write this letter to you (editor or anyone may concern) here for I cannot find a receiver's email address to send my email by the email service offered on your website.

After reading your statement, I am quite impressed with your effort to "have provided comprehensive coverage of all sides of this story", so I think I could definitely expect a more impartiality coverage, at least with most possible accuracy. But I can still find this scene on your website, on the top position of all the related search results just under the keyword “Tibet”: a picture showing what happened in Nepal, with the eye-catching figure of a Lama, but the annotation is Beijing to help victims of Tibet clashes (and it has been there for a least half an hour from the fist second I found it, go and have a look at it, it probably still there when you get this email)




Could you please give me an reasonable explanation of why can such things happen again, after your awareness of your incorrect reference, also some misleading pictures (or maybe only a little vague from your point of view). If this also because of some so called individual mistakes by 1 or 2 of your employee – then I can’t help wondering why there are so many such mistakes among media on  this issue all around the world – is there a professional infectious disease bursting out? Or I question your professional ability to make news report and run your news website!! You cannot even fulfill the basic principle - be responsible for what is showing on your website.

我在你们的网站上读到了你们的声明，我对声明中提到的你们“已经从各个方面提供了全面的报道”的努力印象深刻，所以我认为我可以期待一个更为公正的报道，至少是最大可能的准确。但是我在你们的网站上仍然看到了这样的页面，在关键词“西藏”的搜索结果页面的顶端，一副有关发生在尼泊尔的事情的图片，其中有一个抓人眼球的喇嘛形象，然而图上引出的注解确是“北京要帮助西藏冲突的受害者”（而且这样的情况存在起码有半个小时了，从我看到的时候算起；去看看吧，等你们收到这封邮件的时候它很可能还在那里）

To CNN: 2nd email on Mar 29th


I noticed the picture and the annotation I mentioned in my last email has been corrected, but still very curious about what makes your preference on this picture so strong. It's under the key word "Tibet", and Tibet is a China's "Tibetan region", "Tibet Autonomous Region of China", which is widely recognized all over the world and by you in your statement. So why a news not new(for you had posted the picture here for a non-related article for some time, it couldn't be breaking news now) or really happens in Tibet, China has gained the top position here??
And all above is based on an interpretation of you had read my last email and made the amendment - if yes, thanks for your close attention here - but I didnot get your reply in my email inbox, if you read this, why not send my an reply email? Communication need effort from both sides, after all, the journalism is also for improving communication, right?

我注意到了我前封邮件中提到的图片和注释已经被公正了，可我还是非常好奇为何你们对于这张图片的偏好这么强烈。这是在关键词“西藏”下面，而西藏是中国的“藏族地区”“西藏自治区”，这是被世界普遍认同的，也是你们在声明中承认的。那么为什么一条并不是最新的（起码此图片已经被你们用在一条完全无关的消息上有一阵子了，算不上刚刚发生的了）并且也不是发生在中国的西藏，却可以在这里获得如此重要的位置？
以上所以都是基于一个了解，就是你们看到了我上一封邮件，并因此作出了修改的基础上，如果真是这样，谢谢你们对这里的密切关注。然而，我的邮箱里却没有收到你们的回信， 如果你们读到这封信，为什么不能给我恢复一个邮件呢？沟通需要双方的努力，毕竟新闻行业也有一部分目的是为了促进沟通， 不是吗？

谢谢鼓励，我的能力有限，也只能做到这样了。
我只是认为我们和西方发达国家的立场，价值观之间的不同不是一时的沟通就可以解决的，所以即使不论是非对错，但是新闻报道中的明显预设立场，有意的倾向性是不能接受的，这是我们从他们的价值观中学来的，用来要求他们自己并不过分。
这次引起大家强烈情绪反弹的重点应该是集中在CNN在对西藏发生的突发情况做出的迅速反应中，在没有确切第一手资料的时候，就用了crackdown之类带有非常明确倾向性判断的词汇。我认为这是十分不负责任的，作为一个具有这样规模的媒体，他们不可能意识不到这样的语言实际上就是对于事件做出了性质是非的判断，然后通过他们媒体网络的传播会产生多么大的影响力——等于在第一时间就采取了引导性的手段，让以后再进行分析判断的空间变得很小了。我说他们不负责任，并不是觉得CNN这么做得罪了我们中国的民众；因为我也很清楚，我们并不是他们主要的目标受众，他们会考虑的反馈范畴之中我们占的比例少之又少——而正是因为他们的报道，可能是他们的传统受众了解发生在万里之外的中国的事情的少数渠道之一，这才是我觉得他们没有恪守职业道德的最严重的一点原因。他们过于迅速的把中国的国内事务用激烈的措辞扩大成为世界性的焦点，进而对此施加有些越了界的压力。所以我强烈不满的是这种仅仅以“快速反应”为出发点，就随意使用定性语言，放大事态的态度，因为这样除了会有耸动性的宣传效果，还会加剧问题的复杂性，并不能给那些“人道主义关注”的对象带来任何实质性的帮助；最后可能只有CNN的点击率是受益者，那这与新闻职业道德绝对是相违背的。
其实会忍不住想要写邮件给CNN，还是因为觉得有沟通的可能。像一些根本决意颠倒黑白，仇视中国的媒体，与他们是不存在对话的途径的，因为他们认为中国政府说的都是谎话，中国人只要不反对政府就是愚昧的宣传工具，那再对他们说什么都是对自己智慧和良知的侮辱。

首先纠正一个错误，在西藏生活的藏族人也属于中国人，不要老把藏族人和中国人并行列出，“Tibetans and Chinese”的说法是一个严重的错误，以后不要用这种自作聪明的方式制造民族对立，挑拨离间。
   按照你们cnn的逻辑，你们引用各种未经证实的说法，对从各处搜罗来的图片加以任意裁剪和注释，反倒体现了你们所报道观点的广泛性和全面性。那么现在，本站网友提供了大量你们没有提及的资料和观点。如果真如你们所说，你们的声誉建立在报道的全面性和广泛性基础上，请问你们敢把本站网友提供的资料和发表的观点刊登在你们的媒体上吗？
