About 150 Tibetans and their supporters marched through central Perth in a demonstration a gainst human rights abuses in Tibet by China.

Police say the three hour protest began with a march down Hay Street Mall to the Wesley Chapel in Nearby Williams Street.

The protest was part of a series of similar marches by Tibetans and their supporters around Australia protesting against China’s firm response to unrest in Tibet where 140 Tibetans had been confirmed dead and more than 1,000 arrested.

BEIJING: The death toll from a Chinese crackdown in Tibet rose to 140, the Tibet government-in-exile claimed yesterday, after fresh pro-independence protests claimed further lives.
