Three US Christians protest on Tiananmen Square: spokesman AFP - August 6, 2008, 7:05 pm Three American Christians staged a protest Wednesday on the fringes of Beijing's Tiananmen Square against repression of religion and forced abortion in China, a US-based spokesman said.
Two days before the start of the Olympics, the three unfurled a banner saying "Jesus Christ is King" in English and Chinese, according to Rob Schenck, the US-based spokesman of the Christian Defence Coalition.
"Their principal statement is against the brutal repression of religious rights in China as well as human rights. Forced abortion is one of these," Schenck told AFP by telephone.
The protest ended when the three, two men and one woman, knelt down and prayed aloud, he said.
At this point, plainclothes police seized the three and drove them away in a van, according to Schenck, who said he had not been in touch with them since.
He identified the three as Patrick J. Mahoney, Brandi Swindell and Michael McMonagle.
China's one-child policy, in place since about 1980, has been a target of intense foreign criticism, partly because its implementation is suspected of having caused large numbers of forced abortions.
The Beijing Olympics, which begin on Friday, have become a magnet for a wide array of critics of the communist Chinese government.
Earlier Wednesday, pro-Tibetan activists unfurled banners outside the Olympic stadium to protest against China's rule of the Himalayan region.

三名美国基督教徒在天安门示威
三名美国基督教徒星期三在天安门边缘抗议中国的宗教压迫和强迫性流产，一位在
美国的发言人称。
“奥运开幕两天前，这三人举着写有中英文“耶稣基督是我们的国王”的横批”，
美国的发言人Rob Schenck在电话上 告诉AFP的记者。

示威在这两男一女跪下大声祷告时结束，这时便衣警察将他们用车带走， 到现在他
还没跟着三人联络上。这三人是Patrick J Mahoney, Brandi Swindell 和Michael
McMonagle.

中国自1980年的一孩政策一直受到外国的强烈批评，部分是因为被怀疑导致大规模
的强迫性流产。

北京奥运已经成为大面抨击中国GCD政府的吸铁石。

星期三一早，则有支持西藏的人在奥运体育馆外抗议中国对这个喜雅拉雅地区的统
治。

Four foreign protestors displaying a Free Tibet banner in the Chinese capital have been detained by police.

Two American and two British citizens displayed Tibetan flags and banners declaring 'One World, One Dream: Free Tibet' and 'Tibet will be free,' the group Students for a Free Tibet said in an email.

One of the banners also said 'Free Tibet' in Chinese.

The four breached the general Chinese ban on protests, especially over restive Tibet, by scaling power poles near the heavily guarded Bird's Nest Stadium, where the Olympics open on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.

The protest also came as the Games torch began passing through Beijing under tight security.

Chinese policy in the remote Himalayan area on its western border has long been anticipated as a flashpoint for protest during the Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, flag-waving crowds welcomed the Olympic torch as it paraded through China's capital on a final stretch marked by patriotic pomp and regimented security.

The flame for the Beijing Games started its journey through the host city from the Forbidden City, once home of China's emperors, held up by China's first man in space, Yang Liwei.

The torch will pass through the day at the Temple of Heaven, where centuries ago emperors offered animal sacrifices for good crops.

我认为这几个人都是神经蛋！
当年他们办奥运会，很多国家都抵制，我们从大局出发，不同流合污，坚决支持他们主办的奥运会，就连他们负责主办奥运会的负责人都说，中国在他们困难的时候，帮了他们大忙！而现在他们却恩将仇报，连这样丢人的事也敢做，真让我们失望和痛心啊！
