这是迄今我读过的最醋酸的评论
文章最后一小段来了一个180度大转弯,笑掉大牙
留意那些美国人的评论
知识分子还是不那么容易被忽悠

Why is the Washington Post full of fruitcakes like Thomas Boswell masquerading
as journalists? Not only is this article full of vomits from chewing on too
many sour grapes, he can’t even get some facts straight, let alone be able to
think critically. Oops, sorry, I forgot, critical thinking is not necessary for
journalists (and especially journalists for WAPO) nowadays, but spewing
ignorant and biased nonsense is.
China indeed spent $40 billion, but that’s money spent on improving
infrastructure, building new subways and highways, and so on and so forth, not
just on the games alone. And so what they spent $40 bn! The Chinese holds close
to 1 trillion dollars of U.S. debt (yes, that’s $100,000,000,000), so they can
certainly afford it, unless the U.S., which is trillions of dollars in debt.
And it’s only a small % of their GDP – in comparison, the Greeks spent 100%
of their GDP for the 2004 Olympic games. And the Canadians didn’t finish off
paying for their 1976 Olympics until 2002! Last I checked, both Greece and
Canada were and are still democracies.
China put on a spectacular show for 4 billion people around the world to enjoy.
Since Mr. Boswell is a sports “writer,” he must know that tens of millions of
$$ of public money are being spent in the U.S. building stadiums -- how many
people out of the total population get to enjoy them? Why doesn’t he write
about all those rich team owners who gladly take tax payers’ money to build
stadiums so that they could get richer?
And what about the tens of millions Americans spent each year celebrating New
Year’s and July 4? I’m looking forward to reading Mr. Boswell’s article of
complaint.
And I’m sure Mr. Boswell would be the first one to criticize China if China
didn’t put on a spectacular show. We already know what he would say, “Only
democracies can or should invest the money and manpower that went into this
city-wide fireworks-spewing deification of national pride….”
China has 5,000 years of history, the longest in the entire world. They have
every right to spent however much they want to celebrate their rich heritage,
in a peaceful celebration. And last I checked, the U.S., a democracy, spent
$500 billion dropping bombs in Iraq.
People like Thomas Boswell are hateful, biased people down to the core. Must
have had a tough childhood or life. He ought to see a shrink to work out his
issues. Amazingly he got hired by WAPO – oops, sorry, I forgot again, WAPO’s
standard is very low now.
