IT was out with the green and gold and in with the blue for Team Australia last night when it missed a medal in the fashion stakes.

Decked out in blue tracksuit jackets and topped with a white baseball cap, Australia's prized athletes looked more like prized chumps. Sportscraft, who designed the outfits, issued a press release immediately after the march that read: "Tonight, the Australian Olympic team wowed audiences worldwide in the team uniform created by fashion label Sportscraft."

But Sportscraft alone cannot shoulder the blame, no, the Australian Olympic Committee also deserve their share for working "in close collaboration" with the manufacturer to design an outfit to reflect "the relaxed, casual spirit of modern Australia."
