结果have your say的论坛上前5页就只有两个人反对死刑，还有一个是阿联酋的，
其他人都是well done china。

This "Briton" may has a mental illness, but obviously, Chinese government is not.I don't know how about these EU politican.

Yes the Chinese were correct in there execution of a drug smuggler what ever nationality, If you are in another Country you have to go with there laws and if you are stupid enough to over step the law you have to suffer the consequences its a pity our laws are not as server.But wait ten year untill the muslims gain power of this Country.

I wonder who arranged visas for Tajikistan and for China for Mr Shaikh. I've been to both places and aquiring visas is not for the faint hearted, let alone someone with bipolar who apparently does not know what is going on. I doubt that he put on his visa form that he wanted entry into China "to become a popstar"
Or maybe he was smarter than is suggested?

The British government should be the last one in the world to teach China how to handle the drug trifficking. The last 2 cases involving UK and China on drug traffickings were in 19th century which are still in Chinese people deep memory.

I never thought some British politicians and Media were really stupid enough to touch this issue in such an arrogant way.

AT least this time chinese government did a right thing ,in front of the laws, every people is equal, no matter whether he is English or Chinese. 4kg drugs will kill much more than one English man .

Clearly the Chinese do not understand the quaintly western principle of "care in the community" for those not mentally capable of dealing with their own affairs. Their "human rights" allowing some freedom to kill & damage more "sane" members of Society on several occasions. They are then excused by being unfit to plead. In that respect I dont understand either so I can't blame the Chinese on this one.

Well they wouldn't murder the smuggler- thats for sure. Whatever the rights and wrongs of this case, executions are barbaric. But since when did China respect human rights?

Good for China, a country with a real deterrent against crime. Why shouldn't they be allowed to enforce their laws on transgressors. We are soft on crime and the whole world knows it. We've got a guy in the Scottish Parliament who wants to de- criminalise knife crime and not enforce a custodial sentence for it. What chance do law abiding people have in Britain. If you are attacked in your own home the government are more worried about the criminals health than yours. We are a laughing stock.

If China tried to intervene in the trial or sentencing of a Chinese citizen accused of a serious crime in the UK, we would not like it.

There has been no real suggestion that he wasn't guilty, only that he was mentally ill. The Chinese wouldn't execute a foreigner if they didn't think it was absolutely justified.

I'm against the death penalty, but not uduly upset about this sentence. He knew what he was doing, and has paid the price. The general reaction in the UK isn't very sympathetic.

If more conutrys were like china and that there would be less crime... look at Ireland here and the UK some kills someone and they get 6 years or so for it, meaby 4 for good behaviour????

he was caught with drugs and the court wasnt issued with any evidence he had a mental disorder..... (which he probably didnt)...

The key phrase is "A British man, THOUGHT to be mentally ill".
His family never actual had a official diagnoses, may be because the stigma attached. In hind sight they should sought and got a official diagnosis, rather than leaving it has a procedural defence against the death penalety in foriegn country. Many foriegners caugth smulggling drugs, say they have been tricked :-) . This is a wearsome defence in a foriegn country. This man traveled the world how mentally ill was he?
