The service personnel of Large Combined Unit 233 and the pilots of the air force unit were burning their hearts with a determination to punish the US imperialist aggressors and south Korean war hawks with an all-out confrontation if they dare fire a single bullet or shell to its territorial waters, airspace and land again to impair the DPRK's dignity instead of drawing a lesson from the sea of fire that engulfed Yonphyong Island a year ago. After being saluted at each unit the Supreme Commander acquainted himself with the performance of guard duty and preparations for combat and political training for the new year. Large Combined Unit 233 is maintaining a full combat and mobilized posture to deal a strong retaliatory blow on the enemy at their slightest provocation with sharpened revolutionary vigilance and militant tension to cope with the current touch-and-go situation. He was very pleased to see that the commanding officers and soldiers of the unit have turned all the theatres of operation into an impregnable fortress to defend the Party, the revolution, the country and the people at the risk of their lives and firmly guarantee the great revolutionary upsurge in socialist construction with great military might and they are fully ready to smash the enemy's any surprise attack in time. He praised them for firmly defending the forefront of the country, filled with the staunch fighting spirit and confidence in victory to wipe out the enemy on this land with just retaliatory strike and wreak the people's pent-up grudge without fail, if they dare disturb the DPRK's exercise of its sovereignty with a reckless act of provocation. He expressed his expectation and belief that the service members of the unit would perform laudable military feats in the defence of the country and had a photograph taken with them. At KPA Air Force Unit 1016 he was satisfied that the unit has furnished itself with excellent training facilities to steadily improve the pilots' flight skill and is discharging its guard duty in a responsible manner with high vigilance against the enemy's aggressive moves. He then looked round a wind power plant newly built by the unit. The plant consisting of several large and highly efficient wind power generators, three substations, battery storehouse, automated control room and rooms for high and low voltage distribution boards is bringing substantial benefits to the pilots and other service personnel by generating a great deal of electricity all the year round. He was very pleased to hear that the service members of the unit have successfully completed the plant with high output by joining efforts with scientific research institutions and Kim Chaek University of Technology and highly appreciated their distinguished services. After winding up his inspection he gave the accompanying commanding officers and members of operations command staff of the KPA Supreme Headquarters instructions for strengthening the KPA into an invincible revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu to defend the socialist country impregnably. At KPA Large Combined Unit 630 he climbed up to the commanding post to be briefed on and direct the general tactical exercise. As the exercise started, a-match-for-a-hundred combatants proficiently discharged their tasks in various circumstances, hitting and smashing targets in a flash. Thanks to their courageous and brave actions, the "enemy position" was turned into a sea of fire and the exercise came to a successful close. The Supreme Commander spoke highly of the successful drill and the soldiers' militant enthusiasm and style of training. He said that big efforts should be channelled into strengthening the KPA steadily to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche, Songun revolutionary cause, which had been started in the forests of Mt. Paektu and referred to the need to put more spurs to increasing military capability, the sovereignty of the country and national power, to boost combat capability in every way. He looked round a company under KPA Unit 169 honoured with the Title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. He had a photo session with the service personnel of the large combined unit. Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Ri Myong Je-led Stone Processing Factory and Kwail County in South Hwanghae Province. The factory is a leading stone processor exploiting natural stone resources and producing different kinds of quality building materials. It has an annual processing capacity of hundreds of thousands of square metres. At present it mass-produces various building materials, decorative objects and furnishings with such beautiful and quality natural stones as granite, marble and jade. After being briefed on the factory in front of a large picture showing its overall view he looked round different places of the factory. Looking at the CNC stone processing facilities in operation, he was very pleased with their good performance. Seeing a large 30-stage sawing machine cutting a large stone into dozens of layers at one go, he was pleased to say that huge stones are easily cut like wood thanks to the good technical specifications of the facilities. After getting familiar with the technical specifications of a modern self-propelled machine for digging out natural stones he looked round the stone exhibition hall built wonderfully to meet the modern aesthetic sense with high-grade building materials produced in the factory and described the exhibition as a place showcasing the country with rich natural stone resources. He said that natural stone resources and processed stone products are now in great demand worldwide and the factory shows that money can be obtained with stones as meat can be produced with grass. He had a photograph taken with labour innovators. In Kwail County he looked round the Kwail County Revolutionary Museum and a room dedicated to the history of the county. Making the rounds of different places in the county, he acquainted himself with modernization and fruit production. He said that the county which had been a backward agricultural zone that relied mainly on dry-field farming before the country's liberation has turned into a large orchard in the era of the WPK, adding that such a large orchard can hardly be found in the world. At the Fruit Institute he learnt about research into fruit and specified the tasks to be tackled by the institute. Saying that the county has favourable natural conditions for developing fruit farming, he noted that it is necessary to make fruit production more scientific, modern and intensive, plant dwarf apple trees on a large scale and positively introduce good species including Zantedeschia aethiopia in order to develop fruit farming rapidly in line with the requirements of the developing reality. He also emphasized the need to scrupulously organize the work to supply produced fruits to the people without the slightest loss and, particularly, to activate production in the fruit processing base. During his inspection tours he was accompanied by Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission, Ri Yong Ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and chief of the KPA General Staff, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the WPK Central Committee, other senior Party and military officials and members of the operations command staff of the KPA Supreme Headquarters.
