Series of blasts in China kill 5By the CNN Wire Staff
July 31, 2010 -- Updated 1211 GMT (2011 HKT)

(CNN) -- A blast at a tax office that left four dead and 19 injured in central China was a deliberate attack, state media reported Saturday.
The explosion Friday struck a local tax office near a downtown residential block in Changsha city, Xinhua news agency reported.
It left the third-floor windows shattered. A preliminary probe shows the Friday attack was planned, police said.
An investigation is underway.
A separate series of explosions at a barbershop in northeast China killed one person and injured 20, Xinhua said.

The barbershop attacks were in Jilin province.

  • 35007CANNON I wonder what would happen if a foreign government supported the insurgency in order to destabilize their government. Might be an effective tactic to ensure they will keep looking inward rather than looking to pick a fight outward. Good way to keep a country in check.

Those tax offices, like many other branches of local government in China are family run, run the family of governors assigned in their district.

They'll give you a run around when trying to apply for a license. They'll also charge you $4 just to print a page of document you already paid $150 to get stamped and approved. You can't work work in your town, unless you're related to the governor or general. It's nepotism at it's best in a "communist country." People are sick and tired of this. And it looks like Beijing can't do anything about it. less

  • Aramco Beijing has lost control of local governments. If things don't see improvement, there will be uprisings, and China will fragment itself.
