        FILMGOERS now have further opportunities to see The 10Conditions of Love, the documentary whose presence at theMelbourne International Film Festival has become a cause celebre.It will be released next week at the Cinema Nova.

Nova general manager Kristian Connelly said the cinema hadscheduled the documentary on exiled Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeerbefore protests broke out over the screening at MIFF.

‘‘We are not doing it as an inflammatoryaction,’’ he said. ‘‘It would have been easyfor us to err on the side of caution, but we felt it wouldn’tbe fair to the filmmakers to rescind our offer.’’Nova’s staff are prepared for protests. ‘‘We arevery mindful of the possibilities,’’ Mr Connelly said,‘‘and we take our duty of care very seriously when itcomes to staff and patrons.’’

More than six films have been withdrawn in protest, and thefestival’s website has been hacked repeatedly since theChinese Government protested against the visit of Kadeer, who willattend an MIFF screening on Saturday.
